Jamie Hewlett's comic strip 'Get the Freebies,' has been the inspiration for a pilot called Phoo Action, which I'm very glad to say has been approved for 6 episodes.
From Wiki, the be all and Know all: "The show is set from the perspective of the disaffected teenage female protagonist, Whitey Action, who joins together with tough guy kung-fu cop Terry Phoo to form a dubious crime-fighting duo who thwart many mutant miscreants of The Freebies Gang on the streets of London in 2012."
All I can say is that from the trailer it looks extremely promising and trippy, with that crazy colourful vibe from Tank Girl that I adore (New Tank Girl. which while I find interesting and unusual, doesn't quite hold a candle to the obnoxious, in your face, colour blind dress sense heroine I fell in love with).
The lady, Whitey Action, appears to be far more Tank Girl-ish in character than from what we saw in the movie adaptation of Ms Tank round 1995. This woman here really looks and feels like she could do some serious damage on a whim and then go dancing with no thought on the blasts of destruction she left behind.
The puppets are really awesome too, tactile things just have this edge that can't be replicated by CGI, which usually looks pretty clean. The character with the basketball head looks really promising too.
Hooray!
